Terms & Conditions
Last updated: 26 October 2026
Welcome to Mumbai Home Tutor (“we”, “us”, “our”). These Terms & Conditions apply to everyone who uses mumbaihometutor.com or our services, including parents, guardians, students and tutors. By submitting an enquiry, registering as a tutor, or using our services, you confirm that you have read and agree to these terms.
1. About our service
Mumbai Home Tutor is a tutor-matching platform. We connect parents with home tutors for CBSE, ICSE/ISC, Maharashtra State Board, IB and IGCSE students in Mumbai, Navi Mumbai and Thane, and arrange online classes where a local tutor is not available. We introduce parents and tutors to each other and coordinate demo classes. We are not a school or coaching institute, and tutors are independent professionals, not our employees.
2. Fees at a glance
| Item | Who pays | Amount |
|---|---|---|
| Parent registration | Parents | No registration fee |
| First demo class | Parents | Free |
| Second and any further demo class | Parents | ₹300 to ₹500 per demo, depending on class, board and subject (see section 4) |
| Tutor registration | Tutors | ₹500, valid for one year (see section 5) |
Fees may be revised from time to time. Any change applies only to payments made after the updated terms are published on this page.
3. Terms for parents and guardians
- You must be a parent or legal guardian aged 18 or above and must give accurate information about your child’s class, board, subjects and location.
- After you send an enquiry, we will contact you with tutor options. We try to respond within one working day, but we cannot guarantee that a suitable tutor will be available in every area or for every subject.
- You are responsible for being present or making sure a responsible adult is at home during classes, especially with younger children.
- Tuition fees are agreed between you and the tutor. Unless we tell you otherwise in writing, you pay the tutor directly for classes taken. Please settle fees on time, and keep a record of payments.
- Please do not hire, or arrange classes with, a tutor introduced by us outside our platform to avoid our fees or terms.
- Please treat tutors with respect. We may stop serving anyone who behaves abusively or inappropriately.
4. Demo classes
- Your first demo class is free. It lets your child try the tutor before you decide to continue.
- The second demo class and any further demo classes (for example, if you want to try another tutor) are chargeable at ₹300 to ₹500 per demo, depending on the class, board and subject. We will tell you the exact amount before the demo is scheduled.
- The demo fee is payable in advance, using the payment method we share with you. It is generally non-refundable once the demo has been arranged or taken.
- If a demo is missed because the tutor does not arrive or cancels, we will arrange a replacement demo at no extra charge.
- If you cancel or reschedule, please inform us at least 3 hours before the demo time. A demo missed without notice may be counted as taken.
- A demo is a trial of the tutor’s teaching style. It does not guarantee a particular result or marks.
5. Terms for tutors
Registration and validity
- Tutors must pay a registration fee of ₹500 to be listed in our database and considered for student enquiries. Registration is valid for one year (12 months) from the date of payment.
- After one year, registration must be renewed by paying the then-applicable fee to remain eligible for new assignments. Existing classes you are already teaching are not affected by an expired registration, but you will not be shortlisted for new ones until you renew.
- The registration fee is non-refundable and non-transferable. It is a charge for verification, listing and administration. It does not guarantee any number of students, any assignment, or any income.
Eligibility and verification
- You must be at least 18 years old and provide true and complete information about your qualifications, experience and subjects.
- We may interview you, ask for identity documents and request a sample lesson. We may reject or remove any tutor at our discretion if information is false or verification is not satisfactory.
- You must tell us promptly of any change in your contact details, availability or area.
Conduct and professional duties
- Be punctual, prepared and respectful, and teach according to the student’s board and syllabus.
- Do not misbehave with, harass, or harm any student or family, and never ask students or parents for inappropriate favours or information.
- Do not take students introduced by us away from our platform, or ask them to deal with you outside it in order to avoid our terms.
- Inform us and the parent in advance if you need to cancel or reschedule a class.
- Agreed tuition fees are settled between you and the parent. We are not responsible for any non-payment by a parent, though we will try to help resolve such issues.
6. Tutor replacement
If you are not satisfied with a tutor, tell us and we will try to arrange another tutor at no extra tutoring cost to you. Demo charges for further demos may apply as described in section 4, except where the change is needed because of the tutor’s absence, misconduct or failure to deliver the agreed service. We do not promise that a replacement will be available immediately.
7. Payments
- All fees are in Indian Rupees (₹). Payments are accepted through the methods we tell you about when payment is requested, such as UPI or bank transfer.
- Please pay only to the official account or UPI ID shared by us, and keep proof of payment. We will confirm your payment on receipt.
- Fees paid for registration or demo classes are non-refundable unless these terms say otherwise or we are unable to provide the service because of our own default.
8. Our role and limitation of liability
- We take reasonable steps to verify tutors, but we do not guarantee any tutor’s teaching quality, behaviour or results. Parents are encouraged to use their own judgement and to supervise classes.
- Tutors act independently. We are not responsible for what a tutor does or does not do, for disputes about tuition fees, for missed classes, or for any loss or injury arising out of tutor-student interaction, to the extent permitted by law.
- We are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, or for interruptions to our website or services beyond our reasonable control.
- Our total liability to you, if any, will not exceed the amount you have paid to us in fees in the last 12 months.
9. Use of the website
Please do not misuse our website, attempt to hack or disrupt it, submit false enquiries, or copy our content, logo or tutor information without permission. All content on this website belongs to Mumbai Home Tutor or its licensors.
10. Reviews and feedback
By sending us feedback or a review, you allow us to display it on our website and marketing materials, usually with only your first name, initial and locality. You can ask us to remove it at any time.
11. Privacy
How we collect and use your personal information is explained in our Privacy Policy, which forms part of these terms.
12. Suspension or termination
We may suspend or end our services to any parent or tutor who breaks these terms, gives false information, behaves inappropriately, or harms our reputation or other users. You may also stop using our services at any time by informing us. Fees already paid are non-refundable except as stated in these terms.
13. Changes to these terms
We may update these Terms & Conditions from time to time. The latest version is always on this page with the “Last updated” date. Continued use of our services after changes means you accept the updated terms.
14. Governing law and disputes
These terms are governed by the laws of India. We encourage you to contact us first so we can try to resolve any issue amicably. Any dispute that cannot be settled this way is subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts in Mumbai, Maharashtra.
